The Prescient Policeman
Tonight, it has been difficult to grasp real things.
First within a few hours I heard of the deaths of two people close to me. I was able to digest those with some aplomb.
Then, I saw a VERY unsettling video posted on YouTube of a protest at Reston, VA outside Democrat Congressman Jim Moran’s “townhall” meeting.
A man was carrying a poster opposing “Obamacare”.
A policeman started hassling him, ordering him to “put down” the placard, or else he would be arrested for “tresspass”. They exchanged questions and the policeman got VERY agitated and threatening.
The protester asked, plaintively, “Isn’t this America ? ”
“No !” the policeman announced, “It aint no more…
Okay ??? !”
I have played it four times. Is this cop a prophet ? He IS of pro-Obama persuasion, apparently.
Does he know a secret the rest of us have not been told yet ? Or is he just a prescient seer ?

The problem here is not the protester, but an ill educated, ill informed, authoratarian cop. The policeman is NOT defending constitutional rights and is acting upon his own personal and political beliefs. At least the protester did not get tazed.
Oh yeah, The US defintely need health care reform.
I am a police officer and have been one for over 33 years. I can ASSURE you that the one group of individuals that will be the most disturbed, most appalled, most astonished, most embarassed, and most ashamed are the 99% of police officers all over the country that see this video that would never do such a thing, are intelligent, well-trained, have common sense, can actually think on our feet, know the law, apply the law, and have an inkling of communication skills that don't back us into a corner. As a police officer I DO know something. We're not going to allow the rights of our citizens that we protect, the constitutional rights of our citizens that we are sworn to protect, to be swatted away. We are NOT government thugs and the mili-second we know we are being used as such then we'll do what is right, PLEASE don't judge minority officers especially, and all police officers in general by this one officer.
Officer Dave B, I have no doubt in the sincerity of your message but wonder about the percentage you cite, Clearly, the majority of all peace officers wouldn't act like this but this appears to be a growing trend. I suspect this office felt the tension and stress of a divided nation and made an honest effort to keep the peace. if my suspicion is correct, the City of Reston needs to address some training issues.
Our nation pursued an egalitarian approach in the recruitment and hiring practices of public safety officers which is coming back to bit us in the butt. 25 years ago, the cream rose to the top; cops were the sharpest, most dedicated public servants. Today, it seems like we've compromised excellence for political cronyism.
I hope I'm wrong, Officer Dave B. It appears that we need more folks like you on the street.
I appreciate your comment and perhaps my percentage was a big hyperbolic…. but close. The egalitarian approach of which you speak did hurt us to a degree but in our business the real bad ones get weeded out rather quickly and find it very uncomfortable to come to work after they have been shunned by the honest ones, they realize they don't have the skills to survive, and the ones that enter the business with a certain attitude usually evolve after doing the job for a while. If there is such a thing as a "silver lining" to war, it has been that the returning vets are immediately placed on top of most hiring lists for consideration. That is a pool of young men and women of which you can be inspired and proud.
I completely agree with Officer Dave B. This man is beyond ignorant. Dave I do not judge you or any other officer by the standard of this pathetic man. Were I this man's chief I would fire him on the spot. Thanks for your service everyday in protecting your citizens in your area.
I agree, this cop is ridiculous. I think he should have go talk to somebody or made to go back to the Police Academy, plus enrolled into a Constitutional Law class. Way out of line.

As they say In business, money talks. To date, Glenn Beck has lost 35 major advertisers. The misfits may continue to watch him, but who pays the bills after the advertisers have left? You can’t produce a TV show with used toilet paper. Just a matter of time before Beck disappears too
