These estimates of job losses are probably only the tip of the iceberg. If steel, aluminum, copper, fertilizer and concrete manufacture are driven overseas the taxes from the manufacturer and their employees go with it. This mean less government income, more taxation and/or more borrowing. More borrowing means higher interest rates and less available for private industry to invest in keeping and making new jobs.
Next, the price of those products made overseas would be necessity be higher; currently the domestic supplier is holding market share against those same foreign suppliers by being more competitive. Thus the new foreign made goods would be higher in cost. This means to get the same goods we would have to pay more, having less for other goods.
The next consequence would be that domestic suppliers using these foreign raw materials would have a higher price for their finished goods making them less competitive. That would allow a foreign manufacturer of those finished goods to drive our domestic manufacturer out of the market, costing more jobs and tax income to be exported.
Once the raw material plants and the finished goods plants are closed and the workers unemployed they won't be able to afford the services and goods provided provided by their neighbors – more lost jobs.
As you can see and imagine this is only the first level of consequences. There are many more.
I just think it should be common sense that this bill doesn't make any sense. I just wonder who the special interests are behind these 8 liberal repubs
